Teacher – Student Contracts
Initial communication between our teachers and students is arranged by E-Fan as an Introductory Demo Class and/or an Oral Assessment Class depending on parent intention. Both Demo or Assessment classes comprise of a dual purpose. The teacher is able to formally assess the student's ESL abilities as supported by E-Fan's assessment questionnaire and parents are able to determine if they will enrol their student in a
contract with that teacher. Note that our teachers are financially remunerated for this time. Once a class contract is confirmed, our teachers sign a contract through E-Fan. The contract clearly states the rights and responsibilities of both parties. Contracts usually range anywhere from 2-3 months depending on academic terms or summer schedules. Active teachers are given priority to new student contracts.
Reward
Each E-Fan teacher usually begins with one student in order to establish routine and structure. Due to geographical location teaching hours during the school year are limited to Friday and Saturday evenings. Teaching hours usually increase during summer and winter vacation. Once again, active teachers have priority for new contracts.
Actual teaching hours are reflected by what is recorded by the online software application and by the contract, and teachers are paid accordingly. Salary is based on an hourly rate of $15-30/instruction-hour (depending on experience and qualification) with some non-remunerated course preparation and weekly reporting. Currently our teachers receive monthly payments via email transfer. Alternative payment methods can be arranged if specifically requested, including direct deposit or cheque.
